A picture tour of The Overbrook Line

Interurban cars left the Junction by climbing a grade up and over Warrington Ave. where they clung to the walls of the Saw Mill Run Valley on the way to Overbrook. At Bausmann Street the line crossed over PA Route 51 on a rickety wooden trestle.  The Overbrook line was built on the narrow gauge ROW of the Pittsburgh & Castle Shannon RR.  It was dual gauge for awhile with the P&CS coal trains running at night, some of the narrow gauge rail remained in place for the life of the line. The Overbrook line quit operating a few years back and has been rebuilt for Light Rail operation. It has to be seen to be believed.

These pictures are taken around the Junction lead to the Overbrook line.
