6000-6006

Double deck low floor cars.  47' 2" length over buffers, width 7' 10", height 13' 8", weight 38,700 lbs.  Seating capacity 110. Arch bar 5'6" wb trucks with 4 Westinghouse 30 hp motors.  The first car, 6000, was built in PRCo shops by from three summer cars.  Originally 6000 was a trailer with an open upper level, but it was later enclosed and powered.  Cars 6001 - 6006 were ordered from St. Louis Car Company in 1913.  They were double end cars but never operated that way, they never were fitted with front poles.  The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum has produced an eight page pamplet on these cars

6005 makes its way past Gimbels at Sixth and Smithfield.
