5000-5549

Single end double truck low floor cars.  45' length over buffers, width 7' 9 1/2", weight 40,000 lbs.  Seating capacity 52 when operated as a single unit and 56 if it was the second car in a train. Arch bar 5'6" wb trucks with 4 Westinghouse 37.5 hp motors.  Built by Pressed Steel Car Co and Bradley Car Co. See Traction Heritage Vol. 1 no. 6 page 36.  The 5000 cars had a front door on one end only.  They had longitudinal seats in the front section and opposite the center door and cross-seats in the rear.

Car 5432, of this series, was converted to Traffic Paint car M-134 at Homewood Shops and entered work car service in September 1957. It spent the latter days of its revenue life in South Hills (5432) probably spent the bulk of its life as M134 at South Hills also. It was scrapped at Tunnel Car house on August 4,1967.
